How to Verify an Account
Nigeria Property Centre Account Verification Guide
Welcome to the Nigeria Property Centre verification guide. This page provides detailed information on our verification process, explains why verification is important, and outlines the steps and requirements for successfully verifying your account. Whether you are a prospective Verified Agent or simply need to update your profile information, please read on for all the details.
Why Do We Verify Accounts?
Verification increases trust and safety in our community. Verified accounts signal to property seekers that the agent or business is real and trustworthy. When you are verified:
- Your property listings and your property page display a "Verified" badge.
- Your business credibility increases, providing users with extra confidence when dealing with you.
- Enhanced security is promoted by confirming that the submitted documents match official records.
Please note: The verification process does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of business practices. We recommend that property seekers also consider other indicators when evaluating agents.
General Verification Requirements
To be eligible for verification on our platform, your company details must meet the following criteria:
Official Records Match:
Your company information (as stated on your Certificate of Incorporation or Business Name Registration Certificate) must be found on the CAC website (https://search.cac.gov.ng/home) and match the details held by CAC.
If your company information is not found on the CAC website, please contact the appropriate authorities to resolve the issue before reapplying.
Profile Completion:
Your Nigeria Property Centre account profile must be complete. Log in, navigate to the "My Account" menu, and update your profile under "My Profile."
Let us know once your profile is updated so that we can begin the verification process.
Supporting Documents:
Depending on your status as an agent or business, you will be required to submit additional documentation. The documents must be scanned in colour and reflect your most up-to-date information.
Agent-Specific Verification Process
To become a verified agent, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Confirm Your Identity
Visit our Identity Confirmation Page:
You must verify your identity using an official government-issued document (either a Nigerian driver's licence or a Nigerian passport).
Step 2: Submit Supporting Documents
Send scanned (in colour) copies to support@nigeriapropertycentre.com of the following:
Primary Document:
a) Certificate of Incorporation
OR, Alternative Documents (if the certificate is not available):
One or more of the following:
b) Utility Bill:
A utility bill (e.g., PHCN, water, or waste bill) not more than three months old that shows the same address as on your Nigeria Property Centre account.
c) Tax Clearance:
Provide your latest tax clearance document, which is not more than 12 months old.
These documents help us verify that you are operating a legitimate real estate business. Note that if your business name suggests you are not in real estate, or if the document information does not match your account details, we may not be able to verify your account.
Common Issues and How to Resolve Them
- Company Information Not Found on CAC Website
- Issue: We are unable to proceed with your verification because your company information was not found on the CAC website.
- Action: Confirm that your company details (as stated on your Certificate of Incorporation or Business Name Registration Certificate) match the records on the CAC website. Contact the appropriate authorities if discrepancies exist before reapplying.
- Backlog and Verification Delays
- Note on Processing Time: Verifications are treated on a first-come, first-served basis. At times, we may experience a backlog of requests. We strive to address each request as soon as possible, but please allow until the end of the week for processing. If you submit your documents on a Friday, your request should be processed by the end of the following Friday.
- Usage: You may continue to use your account normally while your verification is pending.
- Mismatched Address Information
Tax Clearance or Utility Bill Discrepancies: If your tax clearance or utility bill address does not match the address on your Nigeria Property Centre account:
- Action: Update your profile if the document shows your most recent address.
- Alternatively, provide another official document (utility bill or other government-issued document) that corresponds with the address on your account.
- Mismatched Company Name
- Issue: The company name on your incorporation certificate does not match the company name on your Nigeria Property Centre account.
- Action: Please review your account profile and the documents provided. Make any necessary changes to ensure consistency, then inform us so that we can continue the verification process.
- Inadequate Utility Bill Documentation
- Issue: The provided utility bill does not include your office address.
- Action: Submit another official document (preferably a government-issued utility bill, tax clearance, or contract to rent office space) that clearly displays your address.
Successful verification
Once your documents have been reviewed and approved:
- Notification:
You will receive a confirmation that your account has been successfully verified.
- Benefits:
Your property listings and property page will display the "Verified" badge, and if applicable, your free business website will be enabled.
