Staying Safe and Avoiding Scams
Most advertisers on Ghana Property Centre are genuine, but it's always wise to take care before you pay any money.
Before you pay
- Always inspect the property in person before paying anything.
- Meet the advertiser and, where possible, confirm they own the property or have the right to rent or sell it.
- Check the documents. For purchases, consider using a lawyer to confirm the title before you pay.
- Be careful with requests for payment before an inspection, or pressure to pay quickly to "secure" a property.
- Pay into accounts in the name of the owner or the company you're dealing with, and keep receipts.
- If a price seems too good to be true, take extra care.
The Verified badge
A Verified badge means we've checked the advertiser's identity and company details. It's a helpful sign, but it isn't a guarantee of how they do business, so please still follow the steps above. See What the Verified Badge Means.
Viewing or agency fees
Some agents charge viewing or agency fees and others don't. Paying them is your choice, and the arrangement is between you and the agent.
If something isn't right
Report the listing so we can look into it. See Reporting a Listing. If you've lost money, please also report it to the police.
